Klakman: Where can I find a Transylvanian hound in California?
An extremely rare dog just recently imported from Hungary into the U.S. also known as the Hungarian Hound and Erdélyi Kopó. It is an ancient Hungarian medium size dog breed, which was primarily used for hunting. The breed was developed in the Carpathian Mountains. It was kept by Hungarian kings and princes for hunting wolf and bear, and various other game like foxes and boar. These dogs are extremely loyal and friendly. They are very good-natured and well mannered with both people and other dogs. They have an excellent sense of direction and are very protective of family members. In the beginning of the twentieth century, the breed was nearly extinct.
Where can I find one in California? I love dogs and I am interested in this particular breed. I've been googling for the past hour. I found one auction for a puppy for sale but it has long since closed. I am willing to breed to bring it back from near extinction. Any info will help. Thanks Guys.

We are located in California and have the privilege of owing and loving these dogs. We and several other breeders have formed the Transylvanian Hound Club. You can find the Club on FaceBook. One of our members has a 14 week old male, breed/show quality available, we have a 7.5 month old breed/show quality male available and we also have friends in Transylvania with two pet quality females available.
More puppies will be coming available in future, in both CA and throughout the US, as Club members breed their dogs. However, these dogs are first and foremost our beloved companions and family members and we do not overbreed our dogs. The Club is also very careful to “grow” distinct bloodlines, so we cannot just breed any two dogs with each other.
We would love to know more about you and your interest in these incredible dogs. Please contact us at [email protected] or give us a call at 925-210-1212, or you can visit us on FaceBook (and like our site and photos please!).
