KitKat: Nutro Max or Performatrin any good?
Just wanted to know what everyone here thought of "Nutro Max" & "Performatrin Natural - Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Formula" Holistic dog food? Comments, Feedback etc.
I'm more concerned of what is good for them all around rather then what they would eat. They would eat grocery store food if they had the chance and they love it but doesn't mean I would ever be feeding it to them again.

I Don't know Performatrin. But at the pet store i work at (which is all about the dog food) we do sell Nutro max and we had a representative come in to talk about Nurto. Nutro Max is a better food then most (Compared to Iams, Dog chow, and Science Diet) Nutro Max is guaranteed for the dog to eat less, shed less, and poop less because it is full of nutrition. BUT Nutro max is on the "lower end" of their dog foods. Nutro Ultra is the best, Nutro Natural Choice is better, and Nutro Max is good. I LOVE the Ultra because it has more fruits and veggies and grain free. Again, Nutro Max is not a bad food by all means. Personal experience, i have used Nutro Natural Choice and it made my dog's waste smell HORRIBLE, even the natural choice cat food, did the same thing. Doesn't mean Max is like that tho
Again sorry i couldn't compare it to the other food since i've never heard of it, but hopefully the knowledge of one food can help, maybe someone else will give you info on it! =)

I've used nutro ultra for a long time and my dog loves it. Also really helps with her coat and shedding.

There is little evidence any food is much better than any other. Wish I was in a place to put that Nutro rep to the test.

I personally feed my cats and dogs Nutro pet food.
I don't work for or represent the company, but I love the results I have seen with my pets and am inclined to say I will never feed anything else! Their coats are gleaming. I picked this food after my cat was diagnosed with cancer a year ago after I had been told she would not get cancer on a "raw diet". She had a prognosis of two months to live after her spleen removal. It has now been a year since she had her spleen removed and she has never been better! I chose this food for it's consistency and for the fact that it is carried in many different stores and easy to obtain when I need it (evacuation, camping, etc.).

Nutro is one of the worst foods on the market. Nutro Max is the lowest of the low quality foods made by Nutro. Performatrin is a much better food than Nutro. Performatrin uses no corn, wheat or soy in any of their products. Nutro uses them in most of their products. Nutro's ratios of Omega 6 to Omeg three are very bad (as much as 20 to 1 in most of their foods). Performatrin's are much better (6 to 1 and 8 to 1). They both use menadione. I would not feed my dogs any food that contains menadione. The menadione is the only thing I have against Performatrin and if you have to choose between those two, by all means choose Performatrin. Foods that contain no corn, wheat, soy or menadione and have good Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratios are Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Castor & Pollux, Merrick, Taste of the Wild, Canidae and Solid Gold.

Are you looking for a limited ingredient formula for a dog that has food sensitivities or allergies? Is that why you’re looking at a lamb and rice formula? What kind of dog do you have? Does the dog have any issues such as sensitive skin, sensitive stomach, or picky eater? I would need to know a little more before I could make a formula recommendation. But, having said that, I can highly recommend Nutro. I’ve been feeding it for over 20 years to all my animals and they’ve done really well on it. In fact, I originally bought Nutro because my lab/pit mix had really itchy skin and hot spots. I put her on Nutro and she never had any more skin problems. If you’re looking for a limited ingredient food for sensitive skin, I would highly recommend Nutro Natural Choice Grain Free Venison Meal and Potato formula. It is a limited ingredient especially formulated for dogs with food sensitivity and allergies. I really like the venison formula because dogs absolutely love the taste of venison. It is also a novel meat source which means that most dogs have not had it before and most likely will not be allergic to it. Nutro also guarantees you will see improvement in skin and coat or your money back. It does not contain any any grains, egg, wheat, soy. I’d also like to correct some misinformation that Robert had posted. Nutro Natural Choice Grain Free, Nutro Ultra and Nutro Natural Choice Small Breed Formulas DO NOT Contain Menadione. Nutro Ultra is another wonderful choice if you are looking for a holistic formula. It is a lamb meal, salmon meal and chicken meal formula. With all three meat sources it is a very tasty food that dogs really love. It is my food of choice for any dog that is super finicky. Ultra does not contain any chicken by-products, corn, wheat or menadione. Another thing to consider when looking at pet food is where the food is manufactured. Nutro is made in the United States in their own factories. Nutro has no compromises when it comes to safety and quality. Nutro invests millions of dollars to ensure the quality of our foods, and we rigorously check every product we produce. In fact each factory goes through over 600 quality checks per per day to ensure freshness, quality and safety. I’m a pet nutrition specialist with Nutro and I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Here’s a link to learn more about the food and read some reviews. http://www.nutro.com/natural-dog-food/ultra-holistic-dog-food.aspx If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or contact our customer care number at 1-800-833-5330.
