Samuel Steinhilber: Are there any breeders within 500 miles of Utah that sell Malamute-Samoyed mixes?
Malamutes are my Fave' dogs (I always wanted one) but I don't want it wandering off like all members of the 'Spitz' dog family do and thus you have the Samoyed half of the equation.

breeders don't sell mutts. irresponsible BYB's sell mutts.
if you want a dog, choose a breed that has ALL the traits you want, and get that.
besides, what's to say that a mix of the two breeds wouldn't have the wanderlust and independent nature of the Mal?

I've had an Alaskan Malamute/Samoyed mix for 13 to 14 years. She loves all dogs and people, excellent with children, babies, handicapped but she will take off and run if I don't walk her every day, or play with her. She likes to either line up balls, toys, whatever she can find, either in a row or a perfect triangle where she knows I will eventually walk and have to kick & scatter them & then she takes off after them. she will sit a stuffed toy animal perfectly poised and wait for me to kick it so she can catch it.
one summer at the farm she'd find a stick the length to wedge at an angle in the open woodshed door and then sit and wait at bottom of steps for someone to walk through–sometimes it was a long wait but she was always ready, at attention, with her gracefully fluffy tail wagging ready to catch it as soon as someone would walk thru doorway.
she obeys best clicking my fingers for sitting, etc and always comes at the sound of one of her squeaky toys. She likes my cooking and cleans up if i spill something, does times out ("go lay down") when told to…I love my beautiful "mutt"–so does anyone who sees her! Guess most of us Americans are "mutts" too.

Guess what, Samoyeds wander just as badly as Malamutes. Samoyeds are a northern breed dog and a member of the spitz family. If you don't have a securely fenced yard, the northern breeds are NOT for you.
Even if you found a Malamute mixed with another breed that was more likely to stay home, you can't make a prediction about what the puppy would do. When you cross breeds, for any given trait a puppy could be just like one parent, just like the other, or somewhere in the middle. And then sometimes really weird things happen when you make a cross, for example you could get a puppy that was larger than either parent or more extreme in some way. So if you get any Malamute cross puppy it could wander just as much as a purebred.

The only ones you might find are backyard breeders or puppy mills – neither is a good place to buy a dog that is mixed on purpose. You might do better to just look on Petfinder and try to find a similar mix.
BTW those breeds do NOT do well in a place that is hot most of the year – they are SLED dogs and prefer to be in colder areas with snow.

Malamute Samoyed mixes are mutts. No reputable breeder would breed mutts. You should check out animal shelters in the area and see if there are any available for adoption.

What is your abbreviation of a byb or puppy mill and are they the same? Do byb / puppy mills indescrimanitly breed two dogs without care? Do they keep all the dogs they breed in little crates all the time unless breeding. How do you know whether they are legit, if legit doesn’t mean breeding only purebreds Just curious as it seems most people consider puppy mills/byb as mixed breed breeders not purebred breeders. My understanding is that they don’t take care of their dogs, they tend to purposely breed two dogs together regardless of relationship, health and temperament, don’t keep their areas clean, dogs are under-weight, they have way too many did and do many liters a year, sometimes with the same mom who may have recently weaned pups. The dogs have no health or genetic testing, sold without a contact.. So no accountability/responsibility, pups are sold to whoever with no care as to who gets them… Am I misunderstanding? Or is it strictly based on the breeder breeding a mixed breed dog. That would seem like a shallow argument, if that’s true. What are your thoughts on the following breeds and do you believe these are puppy mill breed dogs or legit breeds by legit breeders?….. Dogo Argentina or the Mudi. Do you believe there is a difference between the terms mixed breed and breed in development? And how do you distinguish the two?
Do you believe AKC will ever recognize Labradoodles or Puggles as purebreds? Thanks for your time.

Breeders dont breed MUTTS….so you wont find any
The only place to look for mixes is the local dog pound/shelter. And genetics doesnt work that way….you dont get to choose which qualities the mutt will be stuck with.
