for one it is what dog u will interact the most with and determine the circumstances of getting that dog. you should see what dog will be most helpful with your lifestyle.

they need grooming but not as much as malteses.
they're more playful
they don't get jealous of you like when you hug someone like a maltese.
there more fun the maltese.
I think there more cute.

I have a Pomeranian-Maltese. She was really easy to potty train. She is very obedient.
She even waves to people. She is a really sweet dog who is my baby girl. She loves to
play with the other two dogs. I also have a Malti-Poo and a Silky Terrier- Maltese. They love to play. They are sweet dogs also.

I love and have both dogs! Maltese's are great, but they get stuff in their eyes, which is a genetic thing), which needs to be cleaned daily. And the Pomeranian is a fabulous watch dog. However grooming will be required ab it more than the Maltese.
Congrats on deciding on those two dogs. Whichever one you choose, I know you won't be disappointed!

Those are two very different breeds, and its not just because they don't look the same.
Here is some good research on the breeds. Read about them, write down all the pros and cons that you may have about each breed as you read about them, compare how many pros and cons that you've written about them, and pick the one that has more pros than cons. :0)

They can make much much better pets than Maltese.
They are easier to train, aren't as stubborn ( but still can be very stubborn ), and IMO are just better ( but thats b/c I am a pomeranian Addict, and I am sure that Maltese are great dogs too. Infact, when I was 4 I used to own a little male maltese, but he got into just about as much trouble as possible......).

The ones I have been around have both been very sweet breeds. Depends how much time you have for brushing and stuff. The maltese would take more time.
