Why would they say Nutro Max is the best for my boxer dog?

trish: Nutro Max? Wellness? Merrick? Innova?
I have been researching new food because the food my boxer is on now is not agreeing with him. I went to Jack's last night and the clerk told me that Nutro Max is what I should go with. I had a bag of Wellness and Merrick that I was looking at. Why would she say Nutro Max is the best to go with? She said they had a seminar on it and it is supossed to help the dog eat, shed, and poop less. Do you think maybe she gets a commission for selling it? I went ahead and bought a small bag, but came home and read up on it more and I am taking it back and getting a better food. Which would be best, wellness or merrick, or innova? He's 5 months old
Also, I was told by my vet that he needs to be on large breed puppy food?
Then I was told boxers aren't large breed dogs...help I just want to make sure he is getting the best he can
My vet also recommened Blue Buffalo

I agree with your vet. Blue Buffalo is a great food. Real the labels. The seminar that that the clerk went to probably was put on by Nutro and she believed everything they said. Nutro Ultra is a better food that Nutro Max but I would buy Blue Buffalo.

I use Wellness and have been very pleased with it. It is a little more expensive, but I think it is worth the results I am getting. I have tried numerous brands in the past like Nutro, Science and Diet, Iams, Natural Balance, etc and have found Wellness the best. My male has a sensitive stomach and allergies, Wellness works great in helping his allergies and his stomach. The simple plan duck and potato is what I use. Also there is less poop then what I used to have and their coats are shinny black. And when you have two big dogs, less poop is a necessity!! lol.
You may just have to try and see what will work best with your dog.

try Propac instead - I'm a breeder and tech and have used this food for years and have had great luck with it

Innova, Wellness, Canidae, and Blue Buffalo are all great foods.

I feed one of my Dobermans on Orijen. It's a very healthy kibble and my Dobe loves it. The only disadvantage is the kibbles are more puppy sized, that the size I would really like for a large breed dog.

For my dogs Nutro wasn' the best food for them (the breeder of one of my dogs recommended it, but disagreed with my pup on the adult kibble)

I have heard than Innova is good.

I would consider a boxer a large breed over a medium breed and if your vet is saying to feed him large breed puppy food I would...sorry not to sure which food is best...

All premium foods are better than regular food. They all reduce stools because they have less filler and more digestible components.They all improve coat condition with the right oils and vitamins and your dog eats less because the food is more nutritious. I don't know what you read that made you decide to return the Nutro, it is an excellent food. The company makes two lines Max and Natural Choice.They are like premium and super premium food. I use Natural Choice and I have never had a problem. Any of the foods you listed would be good but some of them are not available everywhere.
