Central Asian Shepherd Dog Playing

The Central Asian Shepherd dog - alongside with Caucasian Shepherd - is one of the most popular guard dogs in Russia and former Soviet Union states. Being a reliable protector, a properly trained Central Asian Shepherd can also become a devoted family member and a wonderful companion.

This 15-month-old Alabai is so happy to play in the yard!

People say:

007NunyaBizNess: That is a good-looking CAS.

Tombeestunes: He's very agile; especially for such a big dog. I can see why they are sometimes referred to as cat-like.

kriss.44: OMG! This is like the missing link between a bear and a dog! It's magnificent! Also huge and scary.

TheIsreal0312: It has always amazed me that Big Dogs know how to throttle down when playing with their family. This dog is twice as big as the girl, but just playfully pushes her down and stands on top of her as he pretends to bite and then just playfully grabs her arm in his mouth and then resumes playing with the tree branch.

Jeffrey Sullivan: Wonderful dog.

Headingmashine1: Is it hard to socialize this dog, as a first serious dog? I mean, he is huge and I believe his temperament is a little bit tricky. I had a rottweiler earlier, now I'm thinking to get this dog. Or it's maybe better to get again rottweiler or cane corso because of their great temperament?

Olivia Gaspriky (Alabai owner): I can't leave him without fences. He would not stray, but all people or pets which come near to our territory are enemies for him. Only our big fence stops him.

Simu kas: if this boy can go against wolves he's good enough for me

Bauer KZ: Kazak people use the shepherds against wolves

Frida Nyberg: Stunning dog, just perfect.

ami Moore: Nice looking dog.  I wonder why they crop the ears and the tail so short?

Quest427: its a standard from that region because it leaves fewer things for the opponent (wolf, bear, etc) to grab in a fight
