: 8 week old puppy potty training?
I am going to be getting a 8 week old puppy soon and I know you need to get the puppy on a schedule (when you feed them, water them, and take out for potty) and I was wondering what schedule worked best for you ? i go to school, i get home at four. My mom gets off at work around one. thanks :)

my dog was recently trained, my routine was giving him his food then taking him out for a pee in the morning round about 7-8 o'Clock. then round about 12pm I would take him out for another pee and give him a little bit food. then round about 5pm teatime i would give him the last of his food then round about 7pm take him for a longer walk and that would be it for the day. i recommend puppy training pads they are like mats that you put on your floor it makes your dog pee on the mat rather than the floor (it works with poos aswell). potty training a dog is very hard you have to be patient with your dog it will take a while for you to get the dog into a routine. my dog actually barks at me when he needs a pee by the way

I suggest getting him a crate, that way when both you and your mother are gone he wont pee in the house. If he or she sleeps in the crate it will become his "den" if you will. Now would you make 1 and 2 all over your house? Most likley not. The same concept comes with puppies. he will hold it (most of he time) untill you come to let him out. you dont have to crate him all day just when your not home and when hes sleeping. to get him adjusted. after feeding and watering bring him or her outside and when he or she makes give him alot of praise along with saying your version of "Go peepee?" (thats what i say with my cocker spaniel) RINSE AND REPEAT! the more you do the more he will absorb. Repetitive and Praise.
