How much to feed my 3 month old chihuahua?

Question by mikemo: How much should I feed my 3 month old chihuahua?
Hi, I have a 3 month old chihuahua that’s about 2 1/2 – 3 pounds now. I’m wondering how much of a cup she should eat a day, and how many meals a day.

I have owned a few Chi’s in my life and have a 4 lb. one now. They claim it is best to feed them small meals twice a day. The smaller ones do not have a big appitite. Defenetly feed it puppy food for the first year thou. After first year, switch it to a dog food low in Protein, low phosphorus due to toy, small breeds can get kidney problems.
Many do unfortunatly. This is my second Chi that has had beginning/borderline kidney problems. I believe it runs in Chihuahuas naturally.
Best luck, enjoy your new friend. They are GREAT little dogs. God Bless.

1/2 cup dry food 2 times a day.I feed my male that amount he's 3mths but I dont know his weight but hes small.

  3. Put down about a 1/4 orf a cup, see if she has problems eating that much…….dont over feed her….but make sure she is not going hungry…some of these little dogs tend to eat too much as puppies and will get a pot belly……..

Look on your dog food bag.. You should take the daily recommended amount and divide up into 4 equal portions and feed her 4 times a day.

Just get rid of it and throw it into a river

talk to your vet first for a suggestion.. then sometimes the packaging on your food gives suggestions also.
