Jude RayLou: How do I train my whippet to be okay during car rides?
I recently rescued a whippet black lab mix from a shelter in a nearby city for my birthday. I have had him for about two weeks now. He is a great dog and I love him. He is definitely more whippet than anything. He has the body shape, the quietness, the stomach sensitivity (he's thrown up in my car three times), the loyalty, the separation anxiety, and really just almost all the characteristics of a whippet. Really, I think he just has the colors and coat of a lab. I work at a doggie daycare, boarding, and grooming facility and as you probably know, many whippets have separation anxiety, a characteristic my new dog shares with other whippets. In order to not make him nervous, and to socialize him, I bring him to work with me. The problem is, he gets very nervous during car rides and has thrown up in my car three times. I don't know what to do, and I have to bring him with me to work. Does anybody have any tips on how to help him not get sick, make him enjoy rides more, or just make it easier for the both of us?

Are you sure hes a lab mix? Thats what my in laws thought theirs was too but its actually a whippet dachshund mix. The color actually would come from the whippet side. And the likely hood of a whippet and a lab mating is not very high because the size difference. BUT to answer your actual question...
Make sure you have a window open in the car but unless he gets used to it he wont get over getting sick in the car just make sure you lay blankets down on the seat for him so if he throws up its not getting imbedded in the seats.

What about putting him in a crate fastened to your back seatbelts? Then he will be near you for reassurance, able to get cool air and, importantly, be able to see where he is going. Car sickness occurs when the motion sensors of the body send conflicting signals to the brain; anticipation of motion plays an important role. Then because he once felt sick he will be stressed for the next car ride and that's a whole different issue.
Also try to drive more smoothly by clipping the edge of the white line and the corners, don't accelerate hard and then slam your brakes on.
