One Man'S Dream: Do you know your dogs bark? Does every owner know their dogs bark and how it sounds?
I took my dog to the dog park yesterday and there was another dog there who looked exactly like him and the bark was 100% the same. The were running around playing with other dogs and without their collars they were pretty unrecognizable as which dog is who's. When it was time to go, me and the other owner were confused because we didn't know which dog was his or which was mine. Then the other dog bit my dog and they both let out a bark, although it was the same, i knew exactly which one was mine. I know its a weird story but its true and it was kinda funny.

It would depend on the owner and how well they know/observe their dog.
If my dogs are outside, I'm inside, and one of them is barking, I always know which dog it is. So yeah, I recognize their barks.
The thing with you at the dog park was more likely subconsciously reading your dogs' body language. Everyone, and every dog, moves and holds themselves differently. This is probably what you recognized.

When my dogs do bark, which believe it or not is not really that often or anymore than any other dog barks, I know exactly what each of my dogs sound like when they bark, which one of my dogs is the one who is barking and what they are barking at.

Not only do I know my own dogs barks, but I can also tell several of the neighborhood dogs barking. My one dog has a few different barks that I can tell the difference between a playful bark, a hey I heard something bark, and a I'm a big tough bark and I don't like that/you bark(which I've rarely heard).

Those two dogs may have been litter mates if they were that similar! There was a local dog that sounded exactly like mine - but when he was younger. How odd is that. It made me realise the way my dog sounded changed when he got older.
