Jess_Grace: Pomeranians... Good dogs or bad dogs?
I have a problem. I really would prefer a small and dog, but most toy dogs are known to be hyper and tempered. I have been researching on pomeranians. Does anyone know anything about them? Does anyone HAVE a pomeranian? If you do I would like to know if they bark a lot, if they are tempered, and if they do not like to be held or played with. If you don't have a pomeranian, do you know any other toy dog breeds that are cute and UN-tempered?
Thanks for those who gave answers already! I would like to extend the question... Does anyone know if this will help contain the Pom's temper and hyperness? Daily Walks and attention, Dog Training ASAP, and time outside to run everyday. If I do all of this, will the Pom be less tempered and hyper and more clam?? And, if I get the Pom when a puppy(which i really want to do) Then where should I get the dog from? A breeder?? And will the person I get it from be able to tell me a bit about the personality? Also, is daily grooming necessary? And what about training... How long should I do it? Now a question for Pom experts... Tell me a bit about how the average Pom acts in a fmily of four in a normal suburban house... How does the Pom react to noises like barking dogs and doorbells? Secondly, how does the Pom react to another dog? ?(a bigger, older, calmer breed) I know this is a lot of questions but I need to know it all.. Pick one or all to answer. Thank You!

Contrary to what people believe, not all small dogs are yappy. i had two small dogs . One was a shihtzu & the other was a maltese . They were not yappy at all. My neighbor got a Pom & everyone swore it was going to be yappy. That turned out not to be the case. However, some small breeds are yappy. I think it depends on the dogs personality! They say that little dogs have the " little man" syndrome & that is why they are classified as yappy. I dont believe that through having my dogs & several friends with great small dogs. My friend has a Lab and OMG! Now that dog barks a lot. Best of luck but know that whatever kind of dog you get, you risk it being a barker no matter what.

Yes they can bark a lot and will. They are pretty energetic. They are hard to train and cocky. But they are very cute and bouncy. Lap dogs-too hyper!
